Mary Rutan Hospital Nationally Recognized in Outstanding Patient Care with Healthgrades 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Bellefontaine, OH (July 16th, 2014) – Mary Rutan Hospital is ranked among the top hospitals in the nation for patient experience based on an analysis of patient surveys from 3,582 hospitals across the country by Healthgrades, the leading independent ratings organization.

Achieving one of only two spots in the central Ohio market area has been “the culmination of many years of patient-focused initiatives within the hospital and to have achieved this goal for the second straight year is a testament to our ongoing commitment,” says Mandy Goble, president and CEO of Mary Rutan Hospital.

“Our goal at MRH is to provide the best care to every patient, every day, and this recognition from Healthgrades is a credit to the hard work our staff has put in to achieving this goal,” said Goble “This is an incredible tribute to our team of experts who work tirelessly to exceed the expectations of our patients and their families by delivering unparalleled service in every interaction.”

Healthgrades evaluated Mary Rutan Hospital’s performance as assessed by the hospital’s patients across ten distinct measures.  Ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in a patient room to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patient’s needs, the measures also include whether a patient would recommend this hospital to friends and family.

“As consumers are becoming more active participants in their healthcare, measured performance surrounding the patient experience at a hospital is an increasingly important consideration for patients in choosing where to receive their care,” said Evan Marks, EVP Informatics and Strategy.  “Consumers can rest assured those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2014 Patient Experience Award demonstrate a commitment to exceptional focus on the needs of the patient.

In addition to the being identified as providing outstanding performance in the delivery of positive experiences for patients,  Mary Rutan Hospital also met or exceeded all clinical quality indicators needed to place them in this elite group of hospitals.  Rankings were based on information obtained from Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering hospital visits from March 2012 through April 2013.
