Mary Rutan Hospital, Robinaugh EMS and MedFlight Partner to add Critical Care Transportation Services for Logan County Region

Bellefontaine, Ohio - Mary Rutan Hospital, Robinaugh EMS and MedFlight are partnering to expanding critical care transportation for patients and their caregivers.

Robinaugh EMS plans to provide quarters, parking, and operations space for MedFlight to base a FlyCar unit consisting of a Critical Care Nurse and Critical Care Paramedic that will join an EMT driver from Robinaugh to create a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) when critical patients can’t be flown due to weather, or when it is appropriate to utilize ground transportation to a higher level of care.

The MedFlight FlyCar base will begin operations in the spring of 2019.  The service will be staffed 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. MedFlight and Robinaugh will provide critical care transportation of patients between Mary Rutan Hospital and other urban hospitals as necessary.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with MedFlight and Robinaugh EMS to better serve the people of Logan County and the surrounding counties in West Central Ohio,” says Chad Ross, Mary Rutan Hospital Vice President of Operations. Mary Rutan Hospital’s emergency department offers comprehensive services close to home for people with a life-threatening injury or illness who need to get a high level of care quickly. This new mobile critical care transport option will now be down the street to reduce precious minutes when needed as an extension of our care, resulting in lives being saved.”

Furthermore, the new FlyCar will add additional resources to support other hospital partners throughout the region.

According to Darin Robinaugh, President “we are excited to be able to bring this level of service to the area. We have always had a great relationship with both Mary Rutan Hospital and MedFlight and having a Mobile ICU available will allow us to get these critical patients transferred sooner.”

“MedFlight is honored to partner with Mary Rutan Hospital and Robinaugh EMS has been a great partner and key component in providing resources that make this innovative medical transportation solution possible,” says Mike Perkins, Vice President of Field Operations. “This resource will reduce response times for critically ill and injured patients throughout the region.”
